It loses the fight when the Gotengo fires a freeze beam at it, before ramming straight through its icy corpse, shattering it into bits. The pair begin their life cycles as parasitic spores which have supposedly killed a creature not too dissimilar from Godzilla and were discovered when a large piece of mining equipment collapsed into the cavern where they had been lying dormant in the Philippines. Having waited for what can only be assumed to be thousands of years, the male awakens first and goes on a small rampage to find a nearby nuclear power plant to cocoon in and mature.
After emerging years later for an even larger rampage, the female spore awakens also, having apparently survived all kinds of experimentation. Though she doesn't possess wings like the male, the female is even larger but they're both more than enough in terms of size and strength to take on a rusty Godzilla. However, he's ultimately able to kill both as their main special attack—a powerful EMP burst—does nothing to slow him down. Hedorah is one of the few kaiju to nearly put Godzilla down for the permanent count.
The creature is extraterrestrial in nature, hailing from the Dark Gas Nebula. It arrived on Earth to feed on the pollution in the atmosphere and environment, but it was an unwelcome guest for humanity.

Since his first sighting in , the Big G has terrorized and saved countless people who have gone running for the hills once he rose up from the ocean.

But across all this, Mechagodzilla remains a near-perfect representation of how cool it would be if Godzilla were a robot. Just stay away from the M. Far and away the most disgusting monster on this list, Hedorah is a product of pollution. It is pollution. And as such, it flings weaponized filth wherever it goes. Hedorah is also one of the first monsters to enjoy multiple forms. Because of his inscrutable nature, it takes Godzilla a couple of tries to even figure out how to wound Hedorah in a way that matters.

There is no way that the original Showa-era King Ghidorah wasn't going to make an appearance on a list about Godzilla's most powerful foes. This incarnation of King Ghidorah has made it incredibly apparent that he won't be deterred when it comes to ending the life of his eternal rival for the monster throne. This incredibly intelligent being is said to be straight-up evil, destroying entire planets simply for fun.
He wields all the classic Ghidorah abilities including flight, gravity beams, hurricane winds, magnetic powers, and incredible durability. The most recent live-action Godzilla enemy on this list, the recent incarnation of King Ghidorah from the Monsterverse-era Godzilla: King of the Monsters gave the big lizard a run for his money.
Fun fact: This Ghidorah is larger than every other incarnation besides the anime. When it comes to abilities, this Ghidorah has a great mixed bag of each Ghidorah before it, plus some amazing new ones. This includes weather control via his Bio-Electrical nature and a powerful call that causes other kaiju to submit to him. The film that marked the end of the Heisei-era of the Godzilla film series gave us the debut of one of the scariest foes in Godzilla's rogues' gallery.
That film was Godzilla vs. Destoroyah and it introduced an opponent literally made to destroy Godzilla. This creature is a living oxygen destroyer which is the tool used to kill Godzilla in his debut. Taking a look at Destoroyah's name, one may notice his name comes from the oxygen destroyer, so one can only imagine that his destructive power could destroy an entire town.
He also has amazing regenerative abilities. Ghidorah would not let anyone other than himself have the first and second slots on a list detailing Godzilla's most powerful opponents. Keizer Ghidorah has some of the best physical durability of any Godzilla enemy, being able to take a fully powered atomic blast point blank with no damage sustained.
